DRAMATIC RESULTS FOR PROSTATE CANCER SURVIVORS WITH EXPERIMENTAL IMMUNE BOOSTING DRUG, IPILIMIMAB
TWO MEN DIAGNOSED WITH ADVANCED AND INOPERABLE PROSTATE CANCER RECOVERED AFTER BEING TREATED WITH AN EXPERIMENTAL ANTIBODY DRUG, IPILIMUMAB THAT BOOSTS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM. . BOTH ARE CANCER FREE AND HAVE RETURNED TO NORMAL LIFE.. THE GOAL OF THE STUDY AT THE MAYO CLINIC IN ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA WAS TO SEE IF THEY COULD IMPROVE UPON CURRENT TREATMENT FOR ADVANCED PROSTATE CANCER AND SUBJECTS IN THE STUDY WERE PEOPLE WHO DID NOT HAVE MANY OPTIONS BECAUSE OF THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE DISEASE. THE TREATMENT PROCESS WAS AS FOLLOWS: 1) PATIENTS RECEIVED TRADITIONAL HORMONAL THERAPY TO REMOVE TESTERONE, WHICH FUELS PROSTATE CANCER. 2) RESEARCHERS INTRODUCED A SINGLE DOSE OF IPILIMUMAB. FOLLOWING HORMONAL TREATMENT BOTH PATIENTS SAW THEIR PSA DROP TO A POINT WHERE THEY WERE ELIGIBLE FOR SURGERY. WHEN THE SURGEONS MADE THEIR INCISION THEY FOUND THE CANCER HAD SHRUNK DRAMATICALLY AND HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING IT. ONE PATIENT ALSO HAD RADIATION THERAPY AFTER THE SURGERY. FURTHER RESEARCH IS PLANNED.

My last two guests on the Holistic Health Show on BBS Radio (www.bbsradio.com) on Station 3 on Saturday, June 6 at 7 p.m. PST or 10 p.m. EST are both breast cancer survivors. Lauren Miller (above right) was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and used a variety of complementary interventions to supplement surgery, chemo, radiation and other traditional treatments. My second guest on Saturday, April 11 was Padma, one of Canada’s best know teachers of meditation and yoga. Padma writes and hosts a daily national TV series called Living Yoga with Padma and has produced instructional DVD’s. She studied in the Himalyas of India and has been authorized to teach meditation and yoga by the Director of the International Meditation Institute of India. Dr Patricia Crane
On Saturday, November 29 at 5 p.m. PST and 8 p.m. EST Dr Crane will talk about affirmations on BBS Radio Station 3 (www.bbsradio.com) on the Holistic Health Show. Dr Crane will talk about her approach to using affirmations to achieve her goals in life including recovery from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This show was rescheduled from November 22 due to technical problems at BBS Radio. After the show it will be available for listening or downloading on the Holistic Health Show website (www.HolisticHealthShow.com).
