My first guest is on Saturday on BBS Radio (www.bbsradio.com) is Radhanath Swami who in 1950, was born as Richard Slavin into a middle class Jewish family in Chicago. At age 19, he set out to wander the world in search of a closer connection to God. Today, Radhanath Swami is one of India’s premier spiritual leaders, with public appearances that draw thousands of followers.
Loyal supporters of Radhanath Swami donate millions of dollars each year, all of which is used to head up some of the most highly regarded community service projects in Mumbai. From the formation of a massive food distribution center for indigent children to emergency relief programs, to the creation of an orphanage, an eye clinic, and a hospital—his contributions to India are so vast they have earned him a celebrity-like status. And yet Radhanath Swami’s life is anything but glamorous. As a swami—or “monk exclusively dedicated to God’s services”—he has taken a vow of poverty, celibacy, and abstinence from intoxicants. He has no property, no bank account, and not a penny to his name. But he has found the one thing so many strive to achieve: the path to enlightenment.
His book The Journey Home is an inspiring tale of adventure and profound spiritual discovery and follows Richard Slavin through a life-changing journey down the path of enlightenment to his current status as one of India’s great spiritual leaders, Radhanath Swami.
During his tour of the United States I was fortunate to talk with him for this interview. He will tell us about his journey from Chicago to the present, his experiences with high ranking spiritual leaders like the Dali Lama and Mother Teresa, how spirituality addresses timely topics such as the BP oil spill and the environment, healing resulting from faith that he has seen and other subjects. More information is available at:
http://www.radhanathswami.com
My second guest, Betsy Thompson, has always worked with the media. She grew up in Philadelphia and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. Thereafter she worked as an account executive for WFH radio in Philadelphia and from there went to radio stations WPEN, and WFLN. After that she became a commercial print model and acted in television commercials in Philadelphia and New York. From 1987 to 1999 she worked in Los Angeles at the motion picture and television company Castle Rock Entertainment as the assistant to the chairman and CEO. In August 1999 she followed her boss to Warner Brothers and became his executive assistant as he assumed the position of President and CEO. . She stayed in this position until she retired in 2005 to write full time. She has written 6 books and the latest one is Walking Through Illusion: Jesus Speaks of the People Who Shared His Journey . More information is available at: http://www.betsythompson.com

On Saturday’s show Dr Carl O Helvie, Host, will interview Frank Tortorici who grew up on Long Island, N.Y. in the environment of a loving extended family. Yet with all the love surrounding him, there was a pain and darkness he shared with no one. It was the constant nagging symptoms that his family would come to know as Tourette’s Syndrome (ts).
As a child Frank felt helpless, and was constantly being prescribed various medications to subdue the symptoms. None seemed to work and even then, he often thought there had to be a better way than drugs.
At the age of 15, Frank entered an all natural body building contest and quickly discovered that working-out had an incredible calming effect on his body. He began exercising regularly and it was effective but the ‘bad tic’ days, began to bring about obsessive thoughts.
Frank was later introduced to a gluten-free way of life and started to see fast results because it helped to eliminate yeast growth in the intestines. He began researching and learning how to treat Tourette’s holistically; and learned that Candida- (a yeast-like fungal organism) is caused by such things as sugar, antibiotics and alcohol, that were contributing to ‘his’ symptoms. For the next few years Frank ate a vegetarian, raw/vegan and conscious carnivorous diet. His results were striking;
Some of the most revered high-fashion photographers and casting agents solicited Frank for their publications, endorsements of products, and requests for cameos and guest appearances in numerous films and television programs,
Frank now lives in Los Angeles, and has a satellite office in Newark, New Jersey, and an office in North, Hollywood where he offers public and private services to clients. Certified through the American Council of Exercise he gives his clients; some who have neurological disorders– an alternative – even if only a healthier way of supplementing their living condition(s).
The Tourette’s Syndrome Association (tsa) recently referred to Frank as a “renaissance man” in their newsletter. He travels nationwide sharing his story and offering advice and services to many of those who are usually overlooked in poverty circumstances in urban stricken area(s).
Frank is currently working on a host of edible delights under his ‘Yowser’ brand. You can expect his incomparable taco; with its ‘meat’ being a blend of organic sunflower seeds, sun dried tomatoes and other ingredients, to be added to his signature ‘super food chocolate mousse’ that is also diabetic friendly.
Frank’s book, Fitness, Food and Faith is available on his website. In addition, he is available for personal training specializing in muscle tone, weight loss, strength training, sports rehab, and circuit training. He is also available for speaking, and a variety of food activities including meal planning, food shopping tours, home food preparation, gluten free and vegan all natural food education. .
In a few weeks he will be a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist and can test client for adrenal fatigue, bio identical hormone therapy, liver function, mucosal barrier function, parasites, worms, and even metabolic typing. More information on his services and products is available at: http://franktortorici.com
You can also view his presentation at you tube channel rebirth028.

Dr Carl O Helvie, Host, Holistic Health Show, will interview Stefan Wils, a Shu’em Healer and Shaman on the next show on BBS Radio Saturday as part of the Spirituality, Healing and Faith series. Stefan has given many thousands of healings starting in 1986 where Shuem Shamanic Healing offered courses, meditation, and healing live online. It started as a small healing practice and soon became a training center for those who like to use Shuem Shamanism as a way to spirituality, healing and transformation.
In 1998, Stefan founded the School of Transformative Shamanism where people learn to use shamanism as an instrument to find more peaceful and and balanced state of life. Shuem Shamanism can change one’s perspective on life radically and in a relatively short time many people experience a more relaxed state that makes it easier to deal with life circumstances.
Stefan is an animated speaker/teacher who is able to let his students and clients share in widening states of consciousness in order to experience harmony and well-being in daily life and this is available to everyone through the internet.
During the radio show, listeners can participate in a healing ritual. For the healing it is recommended that you lie down and wear headphones, since it is an inner experience. Due to the strong impact of these rituals, it is strongly suggested that you should only listen to the healing, when your attention is NOT divided,, so do not listen while driving a car and so forth. In fact, don’t do anything at all, just receive.
