Can Mistletoe Kill Colon Cancer Cells?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

Researchers in Australia concluded that mistletoe has great  potential as an alternative therapy for patients with colon cancer. In the study the researcher compared the effectiveness of three different types of mistletoe extract and chemotherapy on healthy intestinal cells. On of the extracts, from a species known as Fraxini that grows on ash trees, was highly effective against colon cancer cells in cell cultures and was gentler on healthy intestinal cells than chemotherapy. Of significance, Fraxini extract was more potent against cancer cells than the chemotherapy drug. The researcher said “This is an important result because we know that chemotherapy is effective at killing healthy cells as well as cancer cells. This can result in severe side effects for the patient, such as oral mucositis (ulcers in the mouth) and hair loss.” In the study Fraxini mistletoe extract by itself was highly effective at reducing the viability of colon cancer cells and at certain concentrations also increased the potency of chemotherapy against cancer cells. Fraxini was the only one of the mistletoe extracts that demonstrated a reduced impact on health intestinal cells. Further research  is needed to add to this research of mistletoe and colon cancer.

Given 6 Months to Live after a Diagnosis of Lung Cancer–38 Years ago Dr Carl O Helvie Now Discusses His Experience Using Natural Interventions.

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

I thought you might enjoy listening to a recent interview about my experience with lung cancer. After being given 6 months to live by traditional medicine I refused chemo/surgery and choose instead to use natural non-invasive interventions. Now 38 years later at age 80 I am still free of lung cancer and any known chronic illnesses or prescribed medications. So natural interventions worked for me and can for you also.

Two Alternative Treatments (Essiac and Ava or Avemar) Used By Interviewed Guest

Friday, July 24th, 2009

linda-wilson2One of the guests, Mrs Linda Wilson, interviewed by Dr Carl O Helvie on the Holistic Health Show used the herbal tea Essiac, and Ave successfully in her recovery from kidney cancer.
Essiac Tea has been used since the early 1900’s. In 1922, Rene Caisse was told by one of her clients about her breast cancer recovery using what was later named essiac tea (caisse spelled backwards). It had been given to her by an Ojibwa Indian Medicine man 30 years earlier and was made from 4 herbs -sheep sorrel, burdock root, slippery elm bark, and turkey rhubarb root. When her aunt developed stomach cancer that had metastasized and her doctors gave up on her, Rene collected and brewed the herbal preparation and her aunt lived another 21 years. She continued using the preparation with her cancer clients and eventually started her own cancer clinic under the supervision of physicians who supported her work. She treated thousands of patients who traditional medicine had given up on and turned away.
Because most of her patients came as a last resort and were in advanced stages of cancer the treatment was not successful with everyone. For some it controlled the cancer, for others it mainly alleviated the pain. However, thousands of clients reported complete cures. In 1937 the Royal Canadian commission of Canada held hearings and concluded that Essiac was a cure for cancer.

Ava (in the U.S.A.) or Avemar (outside the U.S.A.) is also an older cancer treatment developed by a scientist in Hungary who was awarded the 1937 Nobel Prize in Medicine for describing the essential role of vitamin C in the life sustaining processes of cellular metabolism. This work has continued by scientists in Hungary who have refined an all natural produce by fermenting wheat germ with baker’s yeast. It is available as a once a day. pleasant tasting instant drink and is being studied and recommended by doctors around the world. Its advertised uses include: enhanced immune functioning, stimulating natural killer cells, increased energy, restore appetite, and replenish nutrients. It is advertised as useful for: colds and flu, cancer, malnutrition, eating disorders, and anemia.
