Utopia Wellness is a leading-edge medical center that offers integrative, holistic, patient-focused medical treatments. Under the direction of Carlos M. Garcia, M.D., programs designed for anyone who wants to enjoy optimal health are offered: Whether suffering from a chronic illness or simply wanting to prevent disease. Our extensive menu of wellness programs complement each other by addressing all issues related to well-being.
Dr. Carlos M. Garcia M.D. received his formal medical training at the University of Massachusetts, Medical School followed by an internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Anesthesia, both at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA.
After moving to the Tampa Bay area in 1984, he began his practice as an Anesthesiologist at Bayfront Medical Center, Edward White Hospital, and Physicians’ Community Hospital.
Over his years working in hospitals, he came to realize that traditional medicine was driven more by the profits of pharmaceutical companies and hospitals than it was on providing the patient with the best possible care. So in 1996, Dr. Garcia redirected his medical focus to natural alternative health care including holistic medicine, integrative cancer treatments, Chelation therapy, bio-identical hormone replacement, IV vitamins and antioxidants, and weight loss. In all of these areas, he uses non-harmful and natural alternatives to conventional treatments. His passion to help others achieve optimal health through natural medicine led him to found Utopia Wellness, where he incorporates the best that medicine has to offer, traditional and alternative.
Dr. Garcia’s focus over the past several years has been on helping people suffering from cancer and its related diseases. His approach is holistic in that he addresses not only the tumor or cancer but also on the whole person and the cause of the cancer. To be truly cancer free for life, you must identify and eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. In 2012, Dr. Garcia published his book Cancer is a Symptom: The Real Cause Revealed where he addresses the prospect that cancer is merely a symptom and unless you heal the underlying cause, you will never be truly cancer free.He also co authored Cancer Free with Bill Henderson.
Dr. Garcia is a member of ACAM (American College for the Advancement of Medicine), ICIM (International College of Integrative Medicine), and the American Holistic Health Association. Additionally, Dr. Garcia holds certifications in Chelation Therapy from the American Board of Chelation Therapy, and has given numerous lectures on various health topics to professionals, medical students and the public, has had a radio talk show, and has been interviewed for several health related television news topics.

A new study published in Lancet of 9,050 people with an average age of 65 found that the people with the greatest well-being were 30% less likely to die during the eight and a half year follow-up period than those with less well being. Questionnaires were used to measure a type of wellbeing called “eudemonic wellbeing” which relates to a sense of control, feeling that what you do is worthwhile, and a sense of purpose. People were placed into one of four categories of highest to lowest wellbeing based upon their answers. Results were adjusted for age, sex, socio-economic status, physical health, depression, smoking, physical activity, and alcohol intake to rule out as many of the factors that might influence wellbeing and life expectancy.
Over the eight and a half year period of follow-up 9% of the people in the highest wellbeing group had dies whereas 29% died in the lowest category. After all influencing factors were considered the group with the highest wellbeing were 30% less likely to die over the study period living on average two years longer than those in the lowest wellbeing.

My guests on Saturday are Kelley Eidem who will complete the cancer series and Monique Chapman who will start the holistic wellness series.
The odyssey of Kelley Eidem started in his mid twenties when he was diagnosed with a serious chronic kidney ailment called glomererulonephritis that is a serious inflammation or breakdown of the tiny tubules in the kidneys that filter waste product from the blood. He was lucky enough to locate a holistic M.D. who helped him turn his illness around
One of the things he had Kelley do was to take long hot baths in order to detoxify himself through sweating. His schedule had him doing these baths on a Saturday night when most young men would be engaged in other activities.
But as his health improved, the intense experience of the baths gave him the desire to want to help others who were suffering from health problems. Only back in those days, no one wanted to listen.
About 15 years later Kelley was interviewing Congressman Peter Defazio of Oregon in his offices for an article he was writing regarding his support for the Access To Medical Treatment Act, a bill that would give doctors greater freedom in how they practiced medicine.
The Congressman told me about a Senate Hearing regarding alternative treatments for cancer. In the transcripts from that hearing, a man by the name of Vernon Morin was telling the Senate Committee about how his three-year-old daughter had made a miraculous recovery after being near death and with no hope.Vernon had taken his daughter to see Dr. Emanuel Revici, a medical doctor practicing in New York City.
Kelley called Vernon and they spoke for 2 hours. Shortly thereafter the Revici Clinic sent Kelley some information about Dr. Revici and his work. Upon reading the packet it struck Kelley like a lightening bolt that Dr. Revici’s story and work weren’t an article but a book.
Three years later Kelley’s book entitled The Doctor Who Cures Cancer became a reality. The book was the fruition of a dream that first came forth during those Saturday night detoxifying baths.
